Ashi: Morning Rituals I LUV

From KidsLuv Founder, Ashi...

I'm an early riser — I haven’t always been this way.

I used to be a night owl and took my mornings with long ease as most of the time I was working at night.

But these days it is quite the opposite! I'm partially forced to be that way out of having 3 little ones, but mostly now I have learned to embrace this time. It is the time in the morning I can set aside for myself to create the space to set my intentions for the week ahead and kick off the day in the right direction.

This has become so important for a healthy start and the days I skip my morning ritual I skip one of the only times I have for myself. As a Mom it is so easy to get swept up with the little loves you have (your kiddos) that we forget to spend some time with ourselves to recharge and rejuvenate and take that space.

A key tip, if you keep your rituals to just a few, you will keep them up and actually do them which is one of the most important parts to having a ritual. ☺

I like to wake up by 5:30-6:00 a.m. right before the sun comes out to gather myself and my thoughts. I love the stillness of the morning when not many are awake and the silence of that time.

This is the only time of the day before work starts, and before the kids are awake when I can have peace and quiet time. I love to wake up, start the coffee brewing or make a cup of tea and go to meditate or work out for 30 minutes.

On days when I don’t have the time in the morning or feel too tired I like to free write. It's a place to collect my thoughts on paper as another way to set up my intentions for the day ahead. Then I sneak upstairs, wake up the kids, have that cup of coffee before I start the morning with all of us together.

I usually make a smoothie for myself, as I am not a breakfast person and I'll make oatmeal, waffles or if we're rushed I make them yogurt with fruit and granola.

Then I prepare their lunches, they grab their snacks for school, and we grab our coats, backpacks and getting them out the door to start their day too.

Cheers to enjoyable mornings in your house.
