The Importance of Vitamin C

Share:

Vitamin C is a powerhouse antioxidant vital to overall health.

Vitamin C has so many beneficial qualities from boosting one's immune system, maintaining one's nervous system, aiding in healthy bone growth, supporting skin health, strengthening collagen, cartilage, muscles, and blood vessels. It’s crucial to help with the healing of cuts and helps the body resist infection. Keep this in mind when your kiddos fall and get scrapes!

Vitamin C deficiencies can lead to anemia, exhaustion, bruising, bleeding, pain in the legs, swelling, scurvy, bleeding gums, and teeth loss. Maybe less known are Vitamin C deficiencies such as behavioral issues, cognitive impairment, and motor deficits. Vitamin C has a positive role in one's mood, mainly because of its brain homeostasis and function.

How to increase your levels of Vitamin C?

Eat your fruits and vegetables raw whenever possible, as cooking them lowers the Vitamin C since it is water-soluble.

Where can you find Vitamin C?

Citrus fruits, oranges, kiwi, grapefruit, papaya, lemon, tomatoes, berries, cherries, blackcurrants, parsley, kale, peppers, broccoli, potatoes, cauliflower, cantaloupe, Brussels sprouts are loaded with the vitamin.
